How To Intelligence

Intelligence – are you born with it, can you learn it, is there anything you can do to improve it? What’s the difference between someone who is intelligent and someone who is just clever (“just” clever, the chance would be a fine thing).

So how to you learn to do anything? Well, you can learn in lots of different ways:

• watching someone else who is good at whatever you want to do
• reading everything you can get your grubby hands on about the topic you want to learn
• practicing relentlessly until you get something just right
• try something out once and discover that you have a real talent for it . . . – in my dreams. They say that everybody is good at something, it’s just a case of finding out what it is. Well, some of us seem to spend a lifetime searching – I was pretty good at playing conkers at school, does that count?

There’s no shortage of books and “experts” who can promise to help improve your intelligence by doing exercises and even playing games – in fact the “brain game” industry is worth billions of dollars and has made millions of grandparents around the globe ask for a Nintendo for Christmas to help keep their brains active, not to mention their fingers nice and nimble.
