Neuro Intelligence

Computer scientists have dreamed of developing artificial intelligence for years - in fact, ever since there’s been such a thing as a “computer scientist” there have been dreams and stories about artificial intelligence (and probably before that, were there computer scientists when Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein way back at the beginning of the 19th century - me thinks not!).

So what must these robots, computers or otherwise “beings” possess – intelligence, and neuro intelligence is one of the biggest stumbling blocks. The human brain is very complex and even the most intelligent of the intelligent have been unable to reproduce the intelligence desired. Let’s look at “intelligence” in the many forms needed to successful reproduce an all thinking, all moving, all understanding neurally intelligent being.

  • Reasoning - they need the ability to reason and solve logical problems
  • Representation of  knowledge – not only as a concept but also in terms of communication and memory
  • Planning – they need the ability to plan and then achieve their goals
  • Natural language – communication between each other as well as humans is essential
  • Learning – all intelligent beings must have the ability to learn
  • Movement – the ability to move independently (otherwise known as robotics)
  • Perception – and awareness of their immediate environment
  • Thinking – for themselves

No wonder it’s such a tall order to create a being with artificial and neuro intelligence. We’re quite a clever bunch us humans aren’t we, well, most of us are anyway.
