University of Intelligence

Intelligence of all types is a serious business. We’re all bestowed with a certain amount of it at birth, but it’s not what you’re given, it’s what you do with it and how you develop it which is the really important thing in life. There are many types of intelligence. A University of Intelligence is an absolute must for military intelligence training, as well as business intelligence and competitive intelligence in other walks of life, but there is another university where many people study intelligence – it’s called the University of Life.

According to Prof Howard Gardner, an esteemed professor from Harvard, human intelligence can be divided into 8 separate aspects, and each one of these can be learned or improved if you just know how.

  1. Talking / Linguistic Intelligence – you can sharpen this side of your intelligence by reading, doing puzzles, writing poetry, getting involved in discussions.
  2. Visual spatial intelligence – can be improved by making things – jigsaw puzzles, making diagrams, drawing a plan of the garden, map reading and all of those sorts of things.
  3. Logical mathematics intelligence – is really about memorizing and training with numbers. Improve yours by making a budget for your personal expenses, company income, family income, practice, practice, practice.
  4. Kinesthetic intelligence – take regular exercise, dancercise, make elaborate hand movements and other artistic gestures.
  5. Musical intelligence – many people think that you are either “musical” or you’re not, but musical intelligence can be learned. Learn to play an instrument, sing songs, tap a rhythm, you get the idea?
  6. Naturalism intelligence – take notice of the things around you, love your animals, learn about different plants and flowers. Appreciate your natural surroundings.
  7. Interpersonal intelligence – can be improved by learning to play team sports. We all need to get along with each other, and though it doesn’t come naturally to everyone, it can be learned.
  8. Intrapersonal intelligence – this is more about knowing yourself than others. Develop a new interest or hobby, keep active. An active body makes an active mind – keeping active really can help you to become more intelligent.
